Yuktie’s journey to Gulmarg!

Initially known as the Gauri Marg, Gulmarg is a hill station, which is a very popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in the Baramulla district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The town is situated in the Pir Panjal Range in the western Himalayas. Gulmarg lies in a cup-shaped valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, at an altitude of 2,650 m (8,694 ft), 56 km from Srinagar. On its coldest nights, the temperature at Gulmarg can be as low as -2 to 9°C, which, you may find, as quite chilly to go outside and have fun in the snow. But fret not, as the Kosha winter wear is here for the rescue!

If you are a winter-sport enthusiast, with a longing love for the cold winds and white snow all around you, Gulmarg is the most recommended tourist spot for you. The beautiful scenery, white snow as far as eyes can see, opportunities to try new and wonderful things, this would be an experience worth remembering!

Kosha Designs Tested: Kosha’s Puffer Jacket, Ski Pants, and Beanie

#RealLifeTested Kosha’s Puffer Jacket, Ski Pants, and Beanie at Gulmarg

Here are a few statements from Yuktie, the daring adventurer and the proud and successful leader of the Kosha brand-

“Learning how to ski was my dream for 2 years. I am in awe of skiers gliding on the snow, taking graceful turns. While the excitement was high, I was scared of falling. Climbing is relatively easy, you have to acclimatize and train to walk up steep slopes. But skiing needs balance, it needs you to get comfortable with super long feet (your skis!). I geared up in Kosha’s ski pants in the lovely coral colour with coordinated accessories and went to learn. My fear of falling suppressed the excitement of wearing Kosha’s range until my guide inquired about the pants. He was intrigued by the colour and features and couldn’t believe that they are made in India (to my utmost delight).”

The Kosha collection is technical in nature – designed without compromise on quality, features that enhance comfort and performance during travel. Jackets for Skiing with an in-built ski pass pocket on the sleeve and powder skirt to keep the snow out. Ski pants with in-built gaiters. Advanced socks that have a cushion on the pressure points of the feet and arch support, ideal for walking tours and treks. Garments that have an optimum weight to warmth ratio. Clothing that is multi-functional like jackets with underarm vent zips. PufferJackets that get packed in a pouch, hence it is out of your check-in bag, giving you more room to pack other essentials. Stylish Trench Coats for Business Travel. Classic Pullovers in cotton and wool. Rain pants and Rain Jackets with seam sealing. Shell Layer or jackets made with technical fabrics that have a waterproof as well as breathability rating. Our line of sweatshirts and bamboo fibre pullovers are loved in places of light winter wear like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Gujarat. Kosha is a prefered choice for Indians travelling overseas as we have vibrant colours and sleek designs. Avoid your fingers from freezing with screen-friendly gloves. From accessories like stoles, beanies, mufflers suitable for special occasions to Sweatshirts to wear at the airport and Hoodies for the AC in office; we have something for everyone.

Yuktie also adds –

“I learnt how to ski alright. The pants were flexible to enable the turns on the slopes. I did not feel cold and stayed dry all through. The in-built gaiters ensured that the snow did not enter the shoes.”

Tested in over 60 countries and counting, the waterproof warm pants have kept travellers warm even on a cruise to Antarctica. Breathable jackets are worn by the Indian Air Force on their summit to Mt.Vinson in Antarctica. Specially designed smart clothing and technical gear by Kosha for temperatures ranging between -20°C to 20°C. Read real-life accounts in Kosha Journals’ Travel Talk.

From December-end to mid-February, there is enough snowfall for you to create your own snowman! Make sure you pack heavy Kosha gear, as the temperature can drop as low as -4°C. But if you’re planning to visit Gulmarg during March to June, not only these months constitute the summer season in Gulmarg but this is also peak tourist season here. This place is a must-visit for snow-lovers and adventurers. Make sure to write down a visit to Gulmarg on your bucket list and do cross it off as soon as possible! Don’t forget to use the Kosha winter wear as per your need in the chilly winds, to enjoy your visit to its fullest.
